Long before the publication of his novels, Manuel Rivas already had treated the topic of Memory in his short stories. Recopilated in O máis estrano in 2011, there is to observe a predilection for the topic and many of these stories constitute the germ of the later novels. In this article we analyze on the one hand memory as the creator of artistic experience. On the other hand the treating of personal or intimate memory will be taken into account as well as the so called Historical Memory.
